Using Color Charts for Interior Paint
Why should you use color charts when choosing interior paint? Simple. The objective is to find the right color
scheme for every part of your home or office that will enhance the space. When you have the right color scheme,
it blends in with the surrounding natural elements like wood, stone and fabric to impart richness and contrast
to the interior.
Completely different color schemes can work well for your residence, office, shop, business and other working
places. So think seriously about your choice of colors. Even down to the last detail, like how it will impact
the overall space even before selecting something as utilitarian as garage floor paint. There are three important
aspects to think about when choosing the right color combinations:
- Creating harmonious color schemes that are complementary in tone and value.
- How color reflects and effects the mood and desires. (natural and pure colors like blue, green, red and
yellow all effect the mood differently)
- Where desired, creating neutral color schemes that can be complemented by your furnishing and accessories
And of course, you can let your imagination run free and develop your own interior painting ideas.
If you view a color wheel chart, red is regarded as a warm color that is often associated with strong emotion
like anger, or hunger, vitality and passion. Therefore it is more suited in rooms where food is served. Dining
rooms, restaurants and corporate dining facilities do well using this color. But the color red should be used
intelligently and creatively, otherwise if the whole space is dedicated to the color red it is bound to feel
dark, gloomy and overpowering. Earth toned colors like ambers, browns, bricks and terra cotta tones, blend
well with natural furnishings and are a direction to consider.
Yellow is also a warm color like red but it is considered a clear reflective color that works very well when
combined with the color white. This color can be used both in domestic and commercial structures. Blue, one
of the most popular interior paint colors, is regarded as a cool color that is calming but at the same time
a combination of rich cobalt blue can exert the exact opposite feeling too. This color is best for academic
arenas like medical, legal and management institutes, or to display more traditional furniture.
While consulting color charts for interior paint it should be noted that each tone represents a chromatic
value, or color tone. The combination of tones and values that complement each other is the main trick to choosing
colors that are appealing. For this you can rely on your own educated taste or follow the examples you find
in the color charts. If you are still unsure then seek professional help from an interior decorator and everything
will fall into place.
